According to the policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the contact info a domain is registered with must be valid and accurate at all times. Besides, this info is freely accessible on WHOIS lookup websites and while this may not be a problem for firms, it may not be very acceptable for individuals, since everyone can view their names and their personal email and street addresses, especially in an age when identity fraud is not that uncommon. This is the reason why registrar companies have launched a service that conceals the details of their customers without modifying them. The service is referred to as ID Protection, Privacy Protection or WHOIS Protection. If it’s activated, people will view the details of the domain registrar, not the domain owner’s, if they make a WHOIS search. The ID Protection service is supported by all generic top-level domain name extensions, but it’s still impossible to hide your personal info with certain country-code ones.

ID Protection in Shared Web Hosting

If you get a shared web hosting plan from our company, you will be able to enable ID Protection for any of your domains in case their extensions support this service. You can register or transfer a domain name and enable ID Protection during the account activation process or you can activate the service for any of your domain names at any time afterwards through the Hepsia Control Panel. The procedure is very easy – once you log in, you’ll have to go to the Registered Domains section where you’ll find a list of all the domain names that you have registered with our company. For each one of them you’ll see an “ID Protect” icon, which will let you know if the service is active or not. By clicking on it, you can either ID-protect the domain, or you can disable the service if it is currently active.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you register a domain under it, you can enable our ID Protection service effortlessly. This takes just a couple of clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, through which you administer everything connected with your semi-dedicated hosting account. This is the place where you can see all your registered domain names and for each of them you will find an “ID Protect” symbol, using which you can order, renew or remove the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-specific domain extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so you won’t end up requesting a service that we cannot provide.
